Lowell Fire Department

Patch Collection

The Lowell Fire Department

The Lowell Fire Department Patch depicts the early years of the City. The center shows the Textile Mills that the city became known for throughout the World. Above the Mills is the Horn of Plenty showering the City with its gifts.


The Chelmsford Fire Department

The Chelmsford Fire Department is one of our closest neighbors and first due into the city on mutual aid. Chelmsford has 5 Engines, 1 Ladder and a heavy duty Rescue under the command of Chief Jack Parrow.


The Lawrence Fire Department

The Lawrence Fire Department is first due for Ladder coverage into the city on mutual aid. Lawrence has 6 Engines and 2 Ladders under the direction of Chief Richard Schaffer.


The Billerica Fire Department

The Billerica Fire Department is another neighboring town also in our mutual aid system. Billerica is a paid department with 3 Engines, 1 Ladder and also runs the town ambulance service. Anthony Capaldo is Chief of Department.


The Tewksbury Fire Department

The Tewksbury Fire Department is another neighboring town also in our mutual aid system. Tewksbury is a paid department with 5 Engines, 1 Ladder,Rescue Company, Air Supply/Lighting Unit and also runs the town ambulance service with 2 Ambulances. Thomas Ryan is Chief of Department.


The Dracut Fire Department

The Dracut Fire Department is a bordering town which is part paid and part call, it is also part of our mutual aid system. Dracut has 9 Engines, 1 Ladder, 1 Rescue, a Rescue Boat and 2 Command Cars in 3 Stations under the direction of Chief Joseph DiRocco.


The Westford Fire Department

The Westford Fire Department is a bordering town which is part paid and part call. They are also a member of our mutual aid system. Westford has 8 Engines, One Rescue and One Ladder under the direction of Chief Richard Rochon.


The Tyngsbrough Fire Department

The Tyngsbrough Fire Department is a bordering town which is mostly on call it is also part of our mutual aid system. Tyngsbrough has 6 Engines, 1 Ladder and a heavy duty Rescue under the command of Chief Timothy Madden.


The Methuen Fire Department

The Methuen Fire Department is another neighboring town also in our mutual aid system. Methuen is a paid department with 3 Engines, 1 Ladder and also runs the town ambulance service. Kenneth F. Bourassa is Chief of Department.


The Massachusetts Fire Academy

The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy is our state run firefighting school . Their program for recruits is one of the finest in the country. They are located in Stow, MA. Look for the link to the Academy. Their Director of Training is William Hollick.


The Merrimack Valley Chapter-Red Cross

The Merrimack Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross responds automatically to any 2nd alarm fire and to any other special call from the Lowell Fire Department. The Disaster Action team provides rehab services and first aid for the firefighters and emergency food, clothing and shelter for the victims of disaster. They are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Twenty-two volunteers make up the Lowell division, nine of which are EMT's. Mutual aid is available from their sister chapter in Haverhill and from other chapters around New England.


The Middlesex Fire Wardens

The Middlesex Fire Wardens is an organization of fire buffs in the area. Al Fay is their president.


The Lynn Fire Department

The Lynn Fire Department is a neighboring city on the north shore. Lynn operates with 8 Engines, 3 Ladders and a heavy Rescue under Chief Curtis T. Numberg.


The Stoneham Fire Department

The Stoneham Fire Department is a neighboring town to the south east. Stoneham operates with 3 Engines and one Ladder under Chief Lawrence Larney.


The Melrose Fire Department

The Melrose Fire Department is a City to the south east bordering Stoneham. It has a population of about 28,000 and 4.2 square miles in area. Melrose operates with 3 Engines, one Ladder and a Brush Truck under Chief Kevin Walsh.
