Mission Statement

The Mission of the Lowell Fire Department is to improve the quality of life in the City of Lowell by providing fire protection, emergency response services, prevention and public educational activities. Our goal is to protect all citizens, their property and the environment from natural and manmade disasters. Our motto is Promoting Safety, Preventing Fires and Saving Lives. We strive to accomplish this in a courteous, professional manner.

The Lowell Fire Department has thirteen companies strategically located in every neighborhood and serving, but not limited to, that neighborhood. The LFD is NOT just a department which responds to structure fires in the neighborhoods, our non-emergency goal is to develop our programs to meet the identified needs of the community. Several grants have been awarded to support our comprehensive fire public education program targeting elementary school students, which was established in 1995.

Our fire prevention unit has become a pro-active office for inspecting and monitoring residential and commercial fire safety installations. The Training Center offers firefighters and citizens an opportunity to be prepared for medical emergencies.
