The Lowell Fire
Department operates radio stations KNDV-866 and
KNDV-867 under license from the Federal
Communication Commission. Operating facilities
are located at the JFK Civic Center in the Lowell Fire
Alarm Division. The Main Transmitter
is a 100 watt General Electric 4 channel radio.The City has
over 1200 Gamewell Boxes in service throughout
the city. Lowell Fire has 28 mobile radio units
and 45 portable radio units in service. Primary
Channel is broadcast as Channel One at 154.205
MHz. with Channel Two designated as 154.010 MHz.
and Mutual Aid broadcast at 33.66 MHz. low band.
More than 10,000
alarms pass through the Fire Alarm during a given
year. We are in the process of putting our CAD
System and Enhanced 911 on line.
On February 8, 1999 the Fire Alarm
operations were turned over to the City's 911 Communication Center.
