Old Engine 6

Lowell Engine 6, Lt. Louis Reed in command, he served from 1900 to 1946. Does anyone know the other men? Answered by Ron Ayotte of Marlboro, MA Fire Department. Driver/Engineer: Cornielius Nelligan, Hoseman Bernier and Hoseman Primeau. The Apparatus is a White, year between 1921 and 1926. Thanks Ron Ayotte.

New Firefighters

On June 21, 2001, Acting Chief Tom Christoun presented the newest batch of firefighters certificates for Firefighter I & II. The recruits went through eleven weeks of training at the Massachusetts Fire Academy in Stow. Pictured are, (l-r) Justin Ly, Robert Maldonado, Bennie Cooper, Chris Holmes and Kevin McCauley.

On December 4, 2001, the newest batch of firefighters began their training with Captain Winward of Training . The recruits will go through eleven weeks of training at the Massachusetts Fire Academy in Stow during the spring. Deputy Christoun

Deputy Tom Christoun came onboard in 1977 and quickly rose through the ranks to his present position as Deputy Chief. His other Duties are Computer Technologies Director in charge of all MIS Services in the Lowell Fire Department. Tom brought the CPU's into the LFD. Tom's e-mail address is (dcmot@attbi.com).

Oath of Office by Chief Desrosiers

Chief William J. Desrosiers being sworn in by City Clerk Richard Johnson on July 30, 2001. The ceremony was conducted in the City Council Chambers and a reception immediately followed in the Mayor's reception room.

Lowell Fire Headquarters

Lowell Fire Central Station located on Moody Street. The Station opened in 1972 and is an annex of the John F. Kennedy Civic Center. It is home to our staff and companies E-3, L-3 and Rescue.

HazMat Training Class

The first HazMat Training class held in Lowell. Graduates completed the 160 hour course given by The Massachusetts Fire Academy.

Lowell Red Cross Truck

The Lowell Red Cross disaster team responds to all fires in Lowell on a second alarm or on special call.

Lowell Red Cross Disaster Team Command Center

The Lowell Red Cross disaster team responds to all major disasters in the chapters area. The team utilizes a thirty foot multi-purpose vehicle and a hi-cube step-up van. Each truck is equipped with generator, floodlights, radio communications with all area fire depts., first aid, MCI and canteen supplies.

Tom & Jerrys Party

Tom & Jerry had their annual Christmas Party on December 8, 2000. Deputy Jerry Roth and Deputy Tom Christoun enjoying the party. More than 50 members attended see more photos.

Lowell Rescue One

The new Rescue One is in. After trials and outfitting it will replace the old apparatus. Rescue One is the newest addition to our fleet and is a 1998 E-ONE Cyclone. It will be stationed at headquarters.
