IN POLICE COURT
Greeks Were Fined For Dancing on Sunday
BYRON QUOTED BY JUDGE HADLEY
Judge Hadley harked back to the poetic mind of Byron today and quoted a few
lines from the poet's Greek song.
George Pappas, James Iarros, Arthur Snapole, and John
Mahhalos were charged with dancing on the Lord's day. The arresting officers
Geroux and Fox said the defendants danced the whole day long. They further
stated that the defendants had been warned to stop and had
promised to do so, but continued with renewed vigor. The defendants were fined
$10 each. The lines quoted by Judge Hadley were:
"Ye have the Pyrrhic dance as yet-
Where has the Pyrrhic phalanx gone?
