Tom
Sexton, born in Lowell, Massachusetts, graduated from Lowell High
School and then continued his education at Salem State College and
the University of Alaska at Fairbanks, where he earned a Master
of Fine Arts in the creative writing program. For many years he
taught at the University of Alaska at Anchorage and was poetry editor
of the Alaska Review. He is the author of several collections of
poetry, including Terra Incognita, Late August on the Kenai River,
The Bend Toward Asia, Leaving for a Year, and Autumn in the Alaska
Range. In 1995, he served as Alaska's Poet Laureate.
