Matthew
Kraunelis holds an English degree from Merrimack College in North
Andover, MA, and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School
in Boston. He is a government attorney and Methuen, MA,
City Councilor. He is a founding member of the Robert Frost Foundation
of Lawrence, MA, and serves as the Foundation's vice chairman.
Kraunelis has been writing poetry for more than fifteen years. His
poems have appeared in The Merrimack Review, The Alternative Voice
and in The Bridge Review. He is a winner of
the St. Francis Institute $500.00 Poetry Award, and was two-time
finalist for Merrimack College's Aherne Poetry Award. His poetry
has been published eight times in the Eagle-Tribune as part of its
Annual Spring Poetry Contest. He has performed featured readings
at Merrimack College, the Haverhill Public Library, Nevins Memorial
Library, Poetry Hoots in Lawrence, MA and at Lowell Celebrates
Kerouac events.
Mr. Kraunelis is working on a chapbook titled Fever
or Forgotten Wings and also writes songs and fiction. He lives
in Methuen with his wife, Dawn, son Jack and daughter Sarah.
