New Style for American Culture": Kerouac's Spontaneous Prose and
the Post-War Avant-Garde
Fiona
Paton is an Assistant Professor of English at the State University
of New York at New Paltz. She teaches a wide range of graduate and undergraduate
courses, but she specializes in the Beats and American literature after
1945. Her main research interest is Jack Kerouac, in particular his 1952
novel Doctor Sax, about which she has published several articles and given
numerous conference papers.
